Preparing for Renovation

Your preparation is important to this process. You will receive a 30-day notice as your renovation approaches. The notice will include the date and address of your relocation. When you receive that notice, packing materials will be available on the property so you can begin packing. Just check in with the management office to gain access. This would include boxes, packing paper, and packing tape.

You will need to fully pack your apartment. All items should be packed in boxes so that they can be moved by our moving team. You will need to provide covers/padding for your furniture, so we suggest setting aside some blankets or towels while packing if you have any items that will need additional protection.

We will perform a final walk of your home in the days before your move. This is a chance for you to ask any last-minute questions while we assess your readiness. At this time, prepare a bag with your essentials for the day of your move and any valuables you prefer to keep with you or transport yourself. This should include items such as any medication you take, a cell phone charger, etc.

The day of your move you will need to pack the contents of your refrigerator and freezer. We will ask that you put items from your fridge and freezer in a cooler/box right before vacating the unit so that you can take perishable items straight to your new unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When will I move?

A: You will receive a 30-Day notice to move letting you know when your move date will be, where you are headed, and when you are expected to return. Any updates to your move date will come in the form of updated 30-Day notices. These dates are subject to change based on changes to the construction schedule.

Q: My household has certain circumstances that I think will affect my move, what should I do?

A: Please complete the relocation survey linked above if you haven’t already, and when you receive your notice to move, please reach out to your relocation coordinator (listed on your general information notice) to connect with advisory services.

Q: How will my kids get to school during relocation?

A: Our relocation team has already made contact with local school districts and made them aware of the moves. If you have children that will need access to transportation during your move contact your director of transportation of your child’s school district and let them know.

Q: What should I expect when staying at a hotel?

A: While staying at a hotel you must always comply with the conditions of your lease agreement and their house rules, because should you be evicted for “just cause” you would jeopardize your long-term residency.

Q: What if I want to stay with friends and family during relocation?

A: If you wish to stay with friends and family contact your relocation coordinator as soon as possible. Your belongings will still be placed in storage and you may be eligible for a move stipend

Q: What if I want to arrange my own moving accommodations?

A: It is strongly recommended that you don’t arrange your own moving accommodations. We will not reimburse costs associated with arranging your own moving or storage accommodations.

Q: Will my belongings be put in storage?

A: Yes, storage units will be insured, and your items will be placed in their own individual storage unit. If you need access to your storage due to an emergency during your relocation you will need to schedule a time with property management to be accompanied to your unit. So please pack as if you will not have access to the unit. Your individual storage unit will not be assigned until the day you move.

Q: Packing Materials Policy

A: Packing materials will be provided to residents ahead of their moves. You should begin packing when you receive your 30-day notice to move. You will not be eligible for reimbursements for packing materials that you purchase yourself.

Q: What if I incur additional expenses as a result of my relocation?

A: You may be eligible for reimbursement for additional expenses incurred as a result of your temporary relocation. Contact your relocation coordinator for more information.
